Olivia Rodrigo’s Surprising Ride: No Driver’s License, but She Hitches a Lift with Jimmy Kimmel and His Children

Olivia Rodrigo

Kimmel kept the car engine running, while Rodrigo headed to his show for a proper question and answer session.

The three-time Grammy Award winner, who has led the Billboard Hot 100 three times and claimed the top spot on the Billboard 200 twice, came on the show to discuss her house-hunting adventures, her fear of ghosts, and the contents of her bag filled with “President Biden goodies.”

Dealing with fame can be challenging, even for Rodrigo’s parents. Her dad proudly talks about Olivia’s success with his coworkers, while her mom is humble and shy, and Olivia herself is quite reserved when asked about her.

Rodrigo, like many of us, uses strong language from time to time. When writing songs and deciding whether to include swear words, she thinks about it carefully. She enjoys using profanity when she believes it’s appropriate and necessary. However, when working on some tracks for “Guts,” she initially used a lot of strong language and had to tone it down.

In her performance on Kimmel’s show, Rodrigo didn’t use any four-letter curses in her song “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl.”

There are very few people who can turn a simple car ride to school into one of the best days ever, and Olivia Rodrigo is one of those exceptional individuals.

During an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live on a Tuesday, the host and his wife Molly decided to surprise their 9-year-old daughter, Jane, and 6-year-old son, Billy, as they were on their way to school. When Jimmy asked the kids if they were excited about “learning things in school today,” Jane responded with a lack of enthusiasm, confessing, “Not really… I don’t like school.”

In an attempt to brighten their day, Jimmy suddenly announced, “There’s a hitchhiker up ahead,” and to the kids’ astonishment, pulled up to Olivia Rodrigo herself. Jane couldn’t believe her eyes and exclaimed, “Oh my God, Billy. That’s Olivia Rodrigo!” They were both in awe as the famous Guts superstar climbed into the backseat. The kids sang along to Jane’s favorite song, “Ballad of a Homeschooled Girl,” and Billy’s favorite, “Get Him Back.” Notably, Billy even declared that if he ever got the chance to get back at someone for Olivia, he’d “punch him in the penis.”

In a heartwarming moment, it’s worth mentioning that in September, Olivia Rodrigo had the chance to meet another one of her biggest fans, who also happened to be named Olivia. This meeting took place on the YouTube series Recess Therapy. During the episode, the young Olivia expressed her admiration for Guts, saying it was “one of the best albums you’ve come out with.” She also went on to say, “You’re one of the coolest artists I’ve ever seen. And you were like the first one — like, I know there were other ones, but they were really really childish and kiddie. But then I saw you, and I was like, this will be the best artist in the world, and I bet when I’m older I’ll meet her.
